Vincristine is the active substance of an antineoplastic medicine known commercially as Oncovin.
This injectable drug is used to treat individuals with different cancers including leukemia, lung and breast cancer. Its action consists in interfering in the metabolism of the amino acids and to prevent the cellular division, diminishing the probability of the cancer to spread by the organism.

How to use Vincristine
Injectable Use
Adults
- Administer 0.01 to 0.03 mg Vincristine per kg body weight as a single dose. The procedure should be done every 7 days.
Children
- Above 10 kg: Administer 1.5 to 2 mg of Vincristine square meter body surface, as a single dose. The procedure should be done every 7 days.
- At 10 kg or less: Give 0.05 mg Vincristine per kg body weight as a single dose. The procedure should be done every 7 days.
