One of the main symptoms of bronchitis is cough, initially dry, which after a few days becomes productive, presenting a yellowish or greenish secretion. Other common symptoms in bronchitis are:
- Wheezing in the chest - noise when breathing;
- Difficulty in breathing, feeling of lacking air;
- There may be a fever;
- Nails and lips may appear purplish;
- There may be swelling in the legs and feet;
It is very common for the individual initially to be diagnosed with a severe flu, but over the course of days the symptoms of bronchitis will become increasingly clear until the doctor can make the diagnosis of the disease.
Treatment for bronchitis
The treatment for bronchitis is done with the ingestion of anti-inflammatory drugs, antibiotics, rest and hydration. Some patients may suffer from this disease throughout their lives and in this case they should always be followed by a pulmonologist who can identify their causes and thus eliminate them. The most likely are the elderly and smokers, for all others the bronchitis has a good chance of cure.
